Between May and July of that year, she raised over $4,500 through a crowdfunding campaign that reached Kickstarter's front page and attracted press attention from CNN. KHLOE was a reader-contributed platform and was described in its Kickstarter campaign as "a magazine with a fresh and real perspective for young women. Changing the media one issue at a time." Alcocer's first novel, ''Where Hope Lies'', will be published Summer 2015.
